Amanda Cody Founder, Cody Advisory LLC

I spent my career building and leading cybersecurity programs at Fortune 500 companies and large non-profits: enabling organizations with the right security control framework for their industry and size, improving resilience against aggressive adversaries, and operationalizing programs that are effective and efficient. My experience spans the gamut: strategy, governance, risk and compliance; security operations, threat intelligence, and technical assessments; architecture and engineering; enterprise and product security and secure AI enablement. I’ve also led Technology and Experience functions which expanded my aperture and gave me new perspectives on other enabling business operations. 

A list of experiences can never represent all the moments that lead up to a deep and meaningful career but here are a few: I’ve achieved compliance mandates such as CMMC and PCI-DSS. I’ve led through security incidents and operational outages. I’ve launched customer-facing products and led security for a SaaS product. I’ve negotiated creative contractual amendments to hold third parties to higher standards. I’ve operationalized BISO programs to further enable the business and protect the company. I’ve navigated in-kind donations of security solutions for non-profits. I’ve helped organizations see that they’re only scratching the surface on vulnerability management. By proving the value of my team to the business, I’ve repeatedly gotten cybersecurity invited to the table. 

I serve on the Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation Board of Advisors, supporting STEM across our community and the work of opening access so that science is within reach of everyone.

I also enjoy spending time building with Habitat for Humanity, backpacking with my pup, chatting with my husband over a cup of coffee on the patio, and most importantly as mom to 3 amazing young men.
